GET INVOLVED

SOFT FOCUS exists because making art can be a powerful tool to help a person moves through profound loss — and almost no one is funding that work.

We provide direct financial grants: no strings attached, no creative oversight, no obligation to produce anything for us. The work belongs entirely to the artist. Alongside the grant, we connect recipients with mental health and grief support resources, should they want them.

We are building this carefully, and we are building it with a small group of people who understand why it matters. There are several ways to be part of that.

For Individual Donors

A $5,000 gift funds a complete project grant. $1,000 covers a grantee's material costs — equipment, studio time, canvas and paint.

The overwhelming majority of every dollar we raise goes directly to grantees. We have designed the organization to keep it that way.

SOFT FOCUS is a registered 501(c)(3), and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

For Corporate Partners

There are two ways to work with us, and we're glad to do either.

The first is direct support. Named grants, matching campaigns, and employee giving programs are all straightforward to set up, and for a young foundation, they are transformative. A single corporate gift can fund an entire grant cycle.

The second is what you already make. If your organization has something that helps people process their grief — a mindfulness app , a coaching service, we would like it in our grantees' hands. Memberships, access, tools, and resources, delivered to people at the moment they need them most.

Most of our partners will do some version of both. Corporate gifts and in-kind contributions to SOFT FOCUS are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Our board retains final decision-making authority over all grant recipients, so partnership never means influence over who receives funding. What it does mean is that your name sits alongside work that matters, and that people in the hardest chapter of their lives have something real because of you.

If this is work you already believe in, we would like to hear from you.

For Mental Health Professionals

We are not clinicians, and SOFT FOCUS does not provide treatment. We are explicit about this with our grantees and we will be equally explicit with you.

What we can offer is a bridge. When someone we have funded is ready to ask for help, we want a trusted professional on the other end of that call.

We are building a network of therapists, grief counselors, and art therapists who believe in this work and want to be part of it — professionals willing to volunteer their time and expertise to people navigating profound loss.

Any relationship that forms is yours — conducted on your terms, under your professional judgment. We never share grantee information without explicit consent, and we never use your name in fundraising materials without permission.
